Adrienne Hodge is an interdisciplinary artist living, working, and teaching in Austin, Texas. Among her strongest influences, she cites particle physics, dadaism, psychology, neuroscience, and early photography processes.
As an educator, Adrienne is committed to a process-based philosophy of holding space for lifelong learners through focused techniques and creative support. She currently teaches online and creates instructional videos through the Dougherty Arts School, UT Informal Classes, as well as ongoing private lessons and customized online courses from her home studio via Zoom.
In a statement about her recent work, Adrienne described her process as "an entropic exploration of layers." Using primarily calligraphy ink, she explores both the abstract and cinematic quality of significant life events. She seeks to connect the viewer to the everpresent now through continuous use of celestial bodies and dreamlike clouds. These nebulous entities represent the struggle for identity and clarity everyone faces in life. Adrienne often incorporates asemic writing into her work. Sometimes this is in the form of text, symbols, and diagrams. These texts are seen by Adrienne to hold either profound sentiment or little to no meaning at all.
